Working Meeting of the Youth Network

Within the framework of the Institute for the Study of Nationalism and Conflicts (ISNC) project "Youth Peace Initiatives," a working meeting was held with members of the 16th Element network.

The meeting was attended by new members of the network, who were introduced by representatives of the 16th Element to the network’s mission, core values, and key activities implemented to date.

Together with members of the ISNC team, participants discussed the opportunities and challenges related to youth engagement in peacebuilding processes.

Nini Kobakhidze - Program Development Consultant

Nino Kobakhidze works in the fields of peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and youth empowerment in the South Caucasus. Since 2019, she has been actively involved in the development of peace education in Georgia – including trainings for teachers and school administrators, reforming university curricula, and creating educational materials. Nino is the co-author of the manuals “Peace Education Self-Study Guide for General Education Specialists” (Tbilisi, 2021) and “Peace Education Handbook for Youth Workers in the South Caucasus."

Nino Kalandarishvili - Chair of the Board

Nino Kalandarishvili is the Chair of the Board of the Institute for the Study of Nationalism and Conflict (ISNC). Her work includes confidence-building measures, supporting civil dialogue processes between conflict parties, and working with internally displaced persons, including promoting their integration into society.

As a mediator and expert, she has organized and participated in numerous projects related to conflict resolution processes in Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Eliko Bendeliani - Program Manager

Eliko Bendeliani is a peace and conflict researcher. Her main areas of work include peacebuilding, peace education, studying the needs of populations affected by conflict, and providing them with support. 

In 2022, she was awarded the Bertha von Suttner International Peace Prize. She is also a recipient of the International Young Women’s Peace Award for her outstanding contribution to promoting peace and security in the region and protecting human rights. She is one of the co-founders of the “Center for Peace and Civil Development. 

Education for Reconciliation

Teachers of the Akhabastumai School in Zugdidi Municipality implemented a series of training sessions involving both local teachers and students as well as internally displaced teachers and students from schools located near the administrative boundary line. The meetings were held both online and in person.

With the support of mentor teachers and an invited trainer, students received information on peace education, peacebuilding, and peaceful coexistence.
